Buzz Blooms Open House and Beyond | house style

This year, the Buzz, Blooms and Beyond Open House will be held on Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trial and Demo Gardens, located at 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg. Join us for a fun morning of activities for kids and learning for adults. We focus on pollinators, both insects and plants. In the garden, annuals and perennials attract insects that help pollinate fruits and vegetables. This allows us to have a harvest for our table.

When visiting our garden, you will not only see plants and insects for pollination, but also beehives. One of our master gardeners will be on hand to answer your questions about beehives. Although bees are not native to the Americas, they provide us with a necessary service. And with the decline of bees, native bees are even more important to us. Stop and learn about the interaction of these insects.

Mary Ann Ryan is the Consumer Horticulture Program Coordinator. Penn State Cooperative Adams County Extension is located at 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Suite 204, Gettysburg, phone 334-6271.
