Have you ever heard of Castle Peak & Thunder Railroad? Talk about a place you want to know…Castle Peak and Thunder Railway is a beautifully detailed miniature exhibit of the Disneyland theme park. It was envisioned and built in the backyard of the Sheegog family who live in Anaheim Hills, California.
We were lucky enough to visit a Castle Peak and a Thunder Railroad a few times, and it was so much fun! This is a great family activity for ALL AGES. Adults and kids alike will love seeing all the details put into this beautiful garden display.
What to expect at Castle Peak and Thunder Railroad Backyard Display
When you arrive, you will enter through the side door of this dwelling house. The walkway begins with a planter filled with “it’s a small world” miniatures and a water feature. Along the walkway, you’ll see a train track with a working model train, as well as a miniature of the Sky Buckets ride from Disneyland’s past. Look closely, you’ll see lots of your favorite characters and even 101 Damations!
When you enter the backyard, one of the Sheegog family members will check you and your party in. Your name will be on their list if you signed up for tickets. They’ll give you some history and even a program of events with a TREASURE HUNT. There are many hidden surprises and even “hidden Mickeys” around the property.
Once you’ve checked in, you’re free to experience Disney’s AMAZING exhibit in the backyard.
Since the Castle Peak and Thunder Railroad exhibit is located in the family backyard, you will be walking on grass and brick. The terrain includes steps and uneven paths. Wheelchairs may not work unless someone can help them down some steps. Nevertheless, you can still sit back and enjoy the beautiful display of the first platform.
Here are some photos from our visit…
Looking around the screen, you’ll find realistic replicas of Disneyland grounds, as well as many characters from your favorite movies.
