Ctg has integrated the government office complex to also house the Prime Minister’s office

The first integrated government office complex, to be built in Hamid Char, Chattogram, on the banks of the Karnaphuli River, will house a separate office for the prime minister.

“In the office designed in the image of Natore’s Uttara Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister will be able to carry out her state functions while visiting the port city,” Ali Azam, principal secretary of the city, told The Business Standard. Ministry of Public Administration. the project site Thursday.

The design being finalized, the construction of the complex must start following the environmental study.

The design will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval by the end of this month, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Mominur Rahman said.

In October 2021, the Chattogram District Administration announced that it was planning the first integrated government office complex in Chittagong on 110 acres of land along the Karnaphuli River. Initially, the complex was called “Mini Secretariat for Chattogram” and was later renamed Integrated Government Office. It will be built in the image of Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia, and will cover an area of approximately 83 football fields.

Architect Kakali Biswas, who designed the complex, said the current design was finalized after three revisions. In addition to 44 government offices, the complex will house hospitals, circuit houses, government training centers, international convention centers, shopping malls, multi-storey parking lots, government schools, colleges, nursing institutes , transport pools, gas pumps, memorials, a novo theater, and mosques.

“Initially, we planned the initiative on 75 acres of land. Later, other areas will be included in the project as instructed by the prime minister,” Ali Azam said.

“We will build the infrastructure according to the services that people might need,” he said, adding that the geological survey was already completed.

Following a government directive, the Department of Public Administration recently took the initiative to remove various government offices and court buildings from the Court Hill area, also known as Parir Pahar. The archeology department of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs has already declared Parir Pahar an archaeological monument.

Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Kamrul Hasan said: “The location of the complex is ideal as communication access is easy and people can get government services without any problems and can even use the waterways to get to the complex.”

This project is located only seven kilometers from the Chattogram zero point and the district administration has already completed the work of selecting 73.42 acres of land near the Bangabandhu Maritime University, one kilometer west of the Kalurghat bridge.

The Karnaphuli River lies on one side of the project site and construction of a sea route is underway on the other.

“Currently there are two roads to access the project area. However, with the next 50 years in mind, a total of five alternative communication systems, including the sea route and the link route, will be created in the near future, ”DC Mominur said.
