Artpark & Company hosted the 12th annual Fairy House Festival last Saturday in Lewiston. Popular with young and old, the event has evolved from an art walk of miniature fairy houses installed by local and professional artists to an international, interdisciplinary and immersive performing arts festival with theater groups European street performers, modern dance, music and intricately costumed fairy performers.
Visitors were once again amazed by the creations of fairy houses by community and professional artists, and enjoyed the Artpark fairies and traveling musicians dressed in costume creations by artist and designer Uta Bekaia.
Mucca Pazza, a rock ‘n’ roll marching band from Chicago, played a wild set on the South Fourth Street lawn. Montreal acrobatic troupe Battements de Cirque soared, with members performing on ropes above the ground. In the Emerald Grove, students from the Greater Niagara Ballet Co. were entertained. And during the visit to the house of fairies, small creations and hidden magical creatures lined the paths leading to the Artpark Fearie Orchestra.
