The Flat Rock Model Train Depot & Museum loves the holidays, with the Christmas season being one of its favorites.
However, it opens for a new season celebrating everything Halloween.
“We will be presenting a great new Halloween exhibit, complete with a Halloween train,” said Pat Simeck, who together with her husband, Leon, started the museum and oversees the operation. “Fourteen trains will run on the main route.”
Located at 28700 Arsenal Road, the train depot and museum will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on select days this fall and winter. The fall/winter 2022 schedule is as follows:
• Saturday October 8
• Saturday 22 October
• Saturday 12 November
• Sunday 27 November
• Saturday 3 December
• Saturday 17 December
• Friday 23 December
• Friday 30 December
• Saturday 14 January
• Sunday 29 January
The Flat Rock Model Train Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving railroad history in our area.
Henry Ford originally brought the railroad to Flat Rock in the 1920s when he consolidated and improved the lines. He built the dam across from the current “depot” as well as the Model T lighthouse factory at Flat Rock.
Exhibits feature American Flyer and Lionel Trains winding past cities, carnival, zoo, circus, farms, dams, over bridges, through tunnels and over mountains and past the ‘Great Train Wreck’. All views are created in thumbnail.
Tickets are $6 for adults or $5 for seniors and students and are available at the door. Children 10 and under are free.
