House With Island Green Replica hits the market in Illinois

Like homes with scaled-down replicas of iconic golf holes, this one in Ingleside, Illinois, is better than most.

It’s true: The home – which was spotted on Zillow.com by blogger Barstool Sports Chaps – features a miniature version of TPC Sawgrass’ 17th green in its front yard. And for the list price of $560,000, it can be yours.

As Chaps notes, the Zillow list includes some details that only add to the appeal of any golf nut. There are five separate tee boxes from which to compose your corner distances, and the “meticulously maintained moat” surrounding the putting surface apparently attracts a litany of Instagram-worthy species.

The house itself, which was built in 2001, isn’t too shabby either. And according to a ChicagoGolfReport.com article, original designer Don Snelten – the father of former big league pitcher DJ Snelten – spent around $50,000 to recreate Pete Dye’s masterpiece.

“I really did it for my own viewing pleasure and environmental vibe,” the elder Snelten said. “We regularly see herons, deer, muskrats, bullfrogs and turtles, as well as other creatures.”

When news of Snelten’s replica came back to the people of Ponte Vedra Beach, they invited him to play the real thing.
