Last week, the All England Lawn Tennis Club hosted over 150 local children and adults at Canons House in Mitcham for two days of Wimbledon-themed games and activities over the school holidays.

Local families from Mitcham and Morden visited Canons House on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th October for the free event. They enjoyed garden games, including miniature croquet and lawn tennis; create Wimbledon-themed crafts; take photos with replica trophies against a center court backdrop; and meet special guest Rufus the Hawk, who annually patrols the skies around Wimbledon.

Several Merton councilors visited over the two days, including Mayor Joan Henry, Deputy Mayor Agatha Mary Akyigyina, Cabinet Member for Sport and Heritage Caroline Cooper-Marbiah, as well as local ward councilors.

Ulrika Högberg, All England Club Community Strategy Manager, said: “We were delighted to bring a little slice of Wimbledon to the beautifully restored Canons House for the local community to enjoy. We had a great few days and are really looking forward to hosting more events in the future, both in Mitcham and in the boroughs of Merton and Wandsworth.
