Newport Art Museum to Present Miniature Worlds Creation Workshop at Home with Artist Sally Curcio


Newport, RI – Newport Art Museum invites creators of all ages to participate in a miniature worlds-making in-home workshop with artist Sally Curcio. Miniature World Making costs $ 30, or $ 25 for museum members, and includes a kit complete with the materials needed to build your own miniature world inspired by the work of Sally Curcio, as well as a link to a special video demonstration of the ‘artist. The deadline to reserve a kit is Sunday August 9 and kits can be picked up at the museum during normal opening hours from August 14. Six of Sally Curcio’s miniature worlds are on display as part of the Newport Art Museum’s current exhibition, Complex land (s). Curcio has exhibited his work in galleries, museums and for public installations in the United States and around the world. She has exhibited in many museums including the Children’s Museum of the Arts in New York; the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut; the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem; and the Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg. Curcio’s work is in the permanent collections of the Smith College Museum of Art, Northampton, Massachusetts; the Fitchburg Art Museum, Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and the University Museum of Contemporary Art at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

In 2019, Curcio was selected as Principal Artist by the Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program at Art Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has given workshops inspired by her art at institutions such as the Children’s Museum of the Arts in New York; Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital in NYU Langone, New York; Girls Inc., Holyoke, Massachusetts; boys ‘and girls’ schools across Dubai; and Art Dubai as part of the Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program, United Arab Emirates. Curcio maintains his studio in Northampton, Massachusetts.
