CLARKSVILLE, TN – Here’s everything happening at the Customs House Museum this November.

Coming this month:

Limited Edition Dan Hanley Christmas Cards: The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is delighted to offer special edition Christmas card sets featuring the artwork of one of Clarksville’s favorite artists, Dan Hanley. For over 20 years Dan has been creating hand colored artwork with festive themes and sending these cards to family and friends. Events to come:

First Thursday Art Walk, November 3, 5-8pm | Free to the public: the museum offers free admission during the first Clarksville Art Walk Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Veterans Day at the Museum, November 11 | 10:30 a.m., free to the public (does not include admission to the Museum): Join Susan P. Hunter, author of 77 letters: Operation Morale Booster: Vietnam and director of docuseries Take Me There: Vietnamfor a Veterans Day autograph and program honoring those who have served our country.

New exhibitions

Of Thread & Lace, November 1 – January 1 | Harvill Gallery: Enjoy the intricate details and delicate stitching of this curated assortment of tapestry, lace and embroidery.

Lori Putnam: Far From Home, Nov. 5-Jan. 3 | Crouch Gallery: Known for her expressive brushwork, contemporary compositions, and clever use of color, Nashville native Lori Putnam paints small to medium-sized works. outside and produces large paintings in his studio. Far from home presents works inspired by his travels around the world.

Vestige: artists create through mourning, from November 5 to January 1 | Orgain & Bruner Galleries: This invitational exhibition features works by artists who deal with grief and loss through art, including award-winning artists like Alia El Bermani, Gaela Erwin, Cynthia Billingsley, David Iacovazzi-Pau, Kelly Hider, Mitzi Cross and Will Dargie.

Salute to the Military, November 9 to November 27 | Lobby: In honor of Veterans Day, join the Museum in saluting members of our military here in Clarksville with photographs and artifacts ranging from the Civil War to World War II.


Story time and fall crafts, November 3 and 17 | 10:30 a.m. Family Art Studio | All ages, with an adult: Join us in the family art studio to read our favorite autumn-themed children’s books and create fun crafts!

Family Art Saturday: Printing with LEGO November 26 | appointment between 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 3 years and over, with an adult | Family Art Studio: To celebrate the 90th anniversary of The LEGO Group, created by Danish toymaker Ole Kirk Kristiansen, we’re using paint and LEGOs to print unique designs on paper. Create a beautiful LEGO structure using the 12-foot wall of LEGO bricks in the Family Art Studio. Check out the creative LEGO builds made by museum staff, featured in the Inspiration Tower throughout the month.

F&M Bank Huff & Puff Express Model Trainseexhibition open every day | Trains run Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. * Special run on Friday, November 25 | From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., enjoy one of the largest model railway networks in the region with a miniature castle, a UFO and a picturesque landscape. Interact with the miniature world by making the cars move and the helicopters fly. The model train exhibit is open daily and the themes change seasonally – check out the Snowflake Special, exclusively for the holidays!

Museum closures

Thanksgiving, the museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day, but open during regular business hours November 25-27.

Early closing of the museum, the museum will close at 3 p.m. on November 5 for a private event.
